Gorbel Hosted Students from Western New York Tech Academy

by Jennifer D'alessandro | Apr 26, 2018

On Thursday, April 26th Gorbel® will host a group of students from the Western New York Tech Academy (WNYTA).  The WNYTA is a unique high school program that is being piloted by NYS.  The program provides high students (8th-12th grades) with an opportunity to participate in a multiple year program  that upon completion makes them eligible to receive a A.A.S degree from Genesee Community College (for FREE!) together with a NYS Regents Diploma.  There are 3 main areas of study; Supply Chain Management, Food Processing Technology and Accounting.  In addition to the technical skills the students are learning, they are also developing knowledge in the areas of human relations, keeping positive attitudes and avoiding negativity, problem solving, time management, organization, prioritizing tasks, and the supervisors ‘chain of command’.   The intent of the site visit is to expose the students to work environments and provide the real world experiences that they can draw from.

Gorbel® was chosen along with Wegmans, Klein Steel, and McLane Trucking to participate in this program because of our demonstrated core values and reputation in the community.
