What's Wrong with this Application? #12

A distributor sent these pictures in when he came across this application in the field. Yikes! I would not want to be the one working under this mess of a ceiling hung system.

The most obvious issue with the last post is that one of the biggest benefits of our Gantry Cranes is that they are mobile. In this application they have removed the wheels so it is no longer mobile. It also looks as if there are no trolley stops to prevent the hoist from hitting the sides of the Gantry Crane.

Aside from lack of stops and apparently crappy welding -

Someone turned this runway rail into a bridge. - End trucks are homemade crane eyes for articulation.

On moving this bridge will skew whether or not the eyes swivel, the eyes are on a standard hoist trolley load bar

with nothing to prevent it turning which will reduce the center distance between the eye supports.

This thing will jamb as the runways are rigid I-beams.   It does not work very well, if at all.

No way it is certifiable,   MOL in Ontario would shut it down

There are no stops anywhere. And did someone actually sign off on the beam weld?  I wouldn't stand under that much less work under that. I agree it should be tagged & locked out.

Wow! In Ontario the Ministry of Labour requires Professional Engineer Stamped and Certified drawings on file for all overhead crane systems along with proof of regular inspections.......This should be locked out and removed.

I wonder if their insurance provider has seen this?
