There When You Need It: Creating Confidence and Long-Term Results with Cleveland Tramrail® Overhead Crane

The Challenge: Redesign the Machine and Tool Area

Graco is one of the world's leading suppliers of fluid management products and packages. About three years ago, they opened a new manufacturing facility in Dayton, Minnesota. As this location gained momentum, they decided to upgrade their machine and tool area. It was critical that any material handling solution be properly sized and installed from the start, especially because they were not making any structural changes:
Existing Manufacturing Area: Graco did not want to overhaul their machine and tool area, instead aiming to optimize the existing space
Low-Cyle Crane: Their lifting solution needed to be robust enough for heavy tasks but not obtrusive or disruptive to the day-to-day workflow
Installation and Dependability: A smooth installation was important to Graco so that they could confidently rely on this crane for decades to come

The Solution: A Cleveland Tramrail® Patented Track Crane with GS Series Hoist

To meet these needs, Graco Dayton selected an extended 48” Cleveland Tramrail® system with Tarca® bridges that would complement the space while providing dependable lifting:
Confirmed Fit: Graco consulted with their facility engineers to confirm the loads, hangers, and anti-sway variables
Overhead Convenience: Keeps lifting capacity available without interfering with workflow or cluttering workspaces
Longevity: The Cleveland Tramrail® with the GS Series Hoist is built to handle demanding material handling tasks with proven durability

The Result: Confident Employees and Managers

While the system is not used continuously throughout the day, it easily handles bar stock, fixtures, and fabricated metal components. Operators feel much more confident and no longer consider using inadequate or manual lifting methods:
Convenience: The system is always available when lifting tasks arise but does not obstruct or clutter their manufacturing area
Flexibility: On any given day, this crane may be used to lift a 50lb vice to a 2,000lb machine fixture
Improved Safety: Reduces reliance on manual lifting and alternative equipment, making workers feel confident when completing a lifting task
Longevity: Supervisors and managers are confident that their Cleveland Tramrail® system will serve Graco for many years to come
