8am - 5pm (Mon-Fri)

Description :

The Certified Welding Inspector is responsible for developing and conducting welding inspection plans for welding processes throughout all Gorbel® Inc. manufacturing facilities. This individual is also responsible for making sure that all welding work complies with Gorbel® Inc. safety regulations, as well as the safety regulations stipulated by local, state, and federal governments.

Responsibilities :

  • Conducts routine inspection of equipment to ensure proper settings and operation
  • Makes recommendations to improve production and workflow with emphasis on efficiency and safety.
  • Approves repairs and finished product prior to shipment
  • Develops and maintains Welding Training Plans and provide final training assessments upon completion of training.
  • Develops welding training processes including the training of trainers.
  • Consults on the performance and advancement of Gorbel® welders.
  • Assessment of welding defects and identifies appropriate RC & CA in the welding processes.
  • Oversee destructive and non-destructive testing.
  • Submits inspection and rework reports.
  • Perform related duties as required.
  • Assures on-going welding process integrity.

Required Qualifications :

  • Proficient at all Gorbel® Welder III job requirements.
  • Hold or obtain an inspector certification from the American Welding Society, a CWI.
  • In depth understanding of welding and cutting processes
  • Have a min 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledge of welding different metal types; steel, aluminum, or stainless steel.
  • Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and schematics
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication sills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, make timely decisions and multi-task effectively
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Computer proficient, capable in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Minimum travel requirements up to 25%.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required

Work Environment :

  • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to stand (75%); walk (20%); stoop, kneel or crouch (5%), as required.
  • Able to wear safety glasses and foot protection throughout shift.
  • Able to wear hearing protectors (ear plugs) throughout the shift while working in an environment with moderate noise levels.
